FARM ASSISTANT

The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced

individual to fill the following position:

NON-TEACHING POSITION:

FARM ASSISTANT - GRADE III/IV Ref: (UoEm/FA/10/2023)

Applicants must be holders of at least KCSE D+ (Plus) aggregate or KCE Division IV and a certificate in Animal Health and Production from the Animal Health Industry Training Institute (AHITI). In addition, they must:

  • Be registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) and must have a valid practicing license;
  • Have at least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification work experience as a Farm Assistant; and
  • Have working knowledge of relevant computer applications.

Applicants with a certificate in artificial insemination will have an added advantage. Duties;

  • Assisting in supervising farm workers and coordinating farming activities
  • Assisting in compiling and updating animal health and production records
  • Carrying out routine livestock best practices i.e. castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, and hoof trimming
  • Livestock disease and pest control.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
