About the role

As a Data Engineer at Kulea, you will play a pivotal role in extracting, cleaning, and transforming relevant data to solve integrated customer experience challenges through analysis, modeling, and reporting.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Data Preparation: Extract, clean, and transform data to make it suitable for analysis, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Continuous Learning: Proactively enhance your data science skills, focusing on problem-solving, writing efficient and readable code, mastering integrated customer experience data, and anticipating customer and data-related product needs.
  • Problem Framing: Translate business requirements and objectives into concise data science problems, aligning data solutions with organizational goals.
  • Effective Communication: Collaborate with other team members, ensuring clear and effective communication, regardless of seniority, to achieve project objectives.
  • Goal Achievement: Work closely with the research and engineering teams to ensure the successful accomplishment of company objectives and goals.

Skills:

  • Strong Data Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in statistical and data mining techniques, enabling you to extract valuable insights from data.
  • Database Proficiency: Proficient in working with relational database management systems (RDBMS) and querying databases using SQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • A background in pipeline development using technologies such as Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Databricks, etc.
  • Ability to set up machine learning platforms for data processing.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, computing, machine learning, and deep learning.
  • Experience working with large datasets and the ability to process them efficiently.
  • Strong data wrangling skills.
  • Data Visualization: Exceptional data visualization skills using tools such as MS Excel, PowerBI, or other statistical software to communicate insights effectively.
  • Statistical Languages: Proficiency in using statistical languages such as R and Python for data analysis and modeling would be an added advantage.

Education and Experience

  • University degree in data engineering, statistics, data science, actuarial science, economics, mathematics, and related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar or related role.
  • Candidates with a Diploma or Higher National Diploma with vast experience in a similar role will be considered.
