We are looking for a WIBA Claim Officer to manage and guide the claims process for employees injured in our company. He or she will be ensuring compliance with Kenyan law, accurate documentation, and fair compensation. The role combines legal, administrative, and project management duties to protect both employees and employers under the Act.
Claims Management
- Register, process, and review work injury claims in line with WIBA requirements.
- Verify accident reports, medical records, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure claims are filed within statutory timelines.
Compliance & Legal Oversight
- Interpret and apply the Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007 (Cap. 236).
- Ensure employer obligations (insurance, reporting, record-keeping) are met.
- Liaise with the Director of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) when required.
Employee Support
- Guide injured employees through the claims process.
- Provide updates on claim status and compensation entitlements.
- Ensure dependents receive benefits in case of fatal accidents.
Employer & Insurer Coordination
- Work with employers to confirm workplace accident details.
- Collaborate with insurance companies for compensation payouts.
- Advise employers on preventive measures and compliance.
Project & Case Management
- Track claim progress and maintain accurate records.
- Develop workflows to streamline claims handling.
- Report on claim trends and recommend workplace safety improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, insurance, or occupational health.
- Strong understanding of WIBA, labor laws, and insurance practices.
- Analytical ability to assess claims' validity.
- Communication skills for dealing with employees, employers, and insurers.
- Project management to handle multiple claims efficiently.
- Prior work in insurance claims and legal compliance.
