Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and making decision on credit facility proposals within delegated lending limit (new, renewals, one offs, permanent, amendments, cancellations) received from Corporate and Retail business units in line with specific credit guidelines as set within existing BPR Credit policy/manual/product documents, BNR Prudential guidelines, understanding of market, industry, economic factors, financial statements and recommending those beyond DLA for consideration while ensuring compliance with set TAT, SLAs and quality standards
- Assessment of credit files from the Recovery Unit
- Ensure compliance with bank credit policy, regulatory requirements, and best practice in the appraisal process with a view to minimizing credit risk
- Provide advice/guidance on all aspects of credit, including policy and procedures, as may be required by credit analysts, branches, and other staff involved in risk management
- Effectively handle business units’ complaints & queries on credit matters
- Provide training and coaching related to the structuring of credit facilities and key documentation required to Credit Analysts, Personal Bankers, Business Bankers, Branch Managers, SME RMs, and Corporate RMs on matters related to credit analysis for the purpose of enhancing the quality of the credit facility applications to make them bankable.
- Cross-checking the KCB Group Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) Checklist for manufacturing & agribusiness entities to be financed
- Prepare credit reports as may be required by the bank from time to time
- Attend to audit requirements and provide a response to internal, group and regulatory audit remarks
- Verify and analyze credit information and documentation such as bank statements and financials, provided by Business Bankers, Mortgage Advisors, RMs/Customers, and seek clarification if needed from other sources; liaise with RMs/Branches for queries, additional information/documents, and business recommendations for deviations, if needed.
- Support the creation and update of new and existing credit processes, policy, manuals, and product standards as they relate to Corporate, SMEs, and Retail business.
- Visit clients/centers/branches, independently or with RMs/Manager as part of the evaluation of credit proposals for a better understanding of the client, business, and market.
Daily Responsibilities
- Review and provide decisions on credit facilities up to the discretionary approval limits of FRW 200 million
- Provide guidance and coaching to a team of 4 credit analysts, each receiving between 20 and 25 credit files per day
- Assessment of credit files from the Recovery Unit
- Site visits of business premises related to the credit facility applications under the appraisal process
- Supporting and coaching the business teams to enhance the quality of the credit facility applications
- Cross-checking the KCB Group Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) Checklist for manufacturing & agribusiness entities to be financed
