Job Purpose:
ADS-W is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the Position of Head of Programmes and Partnerships who will coordinate the implementation of multiple programs of the organization, ensuring they are aligned with the overall organizational strategic goals. Further, he or she will also implement the resource mobilization strategy to grow organizational income from multiple sources.
Overall Goal of the Job
This role requires continuous program growth, monitoring, and analysis of partnership performance, and adapting strategies to maximize benefits. The Head of Programmes and Partnerships acts as a liaison between partners and internal teams, facilitating communication and program execution to ensure projects and program's success.
Roles and Responsibilities
Program Management, Implementation and Compliance:
- Lead and provide management support to the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and program risk management of ALL organizational projects, ultimately ensuring effective and successful delivery of ALL project goals, milestones, results, and measuring impact.
- Responsible for ensuring high quality and timely delivery of partner reports for all projects, as well as compliance with ADSW internal reporting processes.
- Support in the formulation and implementation of ADSW’s strategy and subsequently design and grow ADSW program portfolio in line with the long-term strategic goals of the organization.
- Lead in the development of program work plans and operational plans. Also, work with the Head of Finance and Grants in the development and revision of budgets, grant agreements, and best practices for the overall financial administration of project work.
- Support in the identification and recruitment of competent program officers for each project. Also, coach, mentor, and grow a motivated program team and ensure optimal team performance.
Fundraising and Partner Relations:
- Design and implement fundraising strategies to support the organization’s strategic growth and expansion plans thus guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.
- Design and draft funding proposals and grant applications for the organization. Additionally, provide leadership to the fundraising team through coaching, mentoring, and modeling in resource mobilization and proposal development aspects.
- Manage an up-to-date stakeholder database to ensure regular communication and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Manage ongoing fundraising efforts among donors using ADSW’s established relationships with in-country government aid agencies, embassies, and international public sector partners through ADS national office and Anglican provincial office.
- Work with the CEO in building and Maintaining relationships with current and potential funding donors and networks with other NGOs in order to create networks in which peer-learning and experience-sharing.
Experience and Qualifications
- A master’s degree in social sciences, Agronomy, Nutrition, Public Health, Economics, and Environmental Agribusiness.
- A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, General Agriculture, Public health, Marketing, Environment planning and management, Agri-economics, Agri-business, or related field.
- Membership in a professional regulatory body is an added advantage.
- At least Seven (7) years in the development sector, successful networking, and fundraising in at least one of the areas of public sector partnerships, major donors, and trusts/foundations.
- Professional Certification in Project Planning and Management, MEARL, Management for Development Coordinators, Fundraising, Business, or any related field.
- Demonstrated ability to gain respect and support from various constituencies including staff, ADS-W board, donors, and partner organizations.
- Experience and expertise in developing relationships with institutional donors, high-net-worth individuals, and/or corporations.
- Experience in creating and implementing a fundraising strategy for new markets.
- Proven experience in program and or project management.
- Proven stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience managing a team of project managers/coordinators and technical teams.
- Experience and proficiency in using digitized MEARL and data analysis systems.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks (Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.)
- Proven experience in strategic plan development and implementation.
- Excellent management, leadership, planning, and strategic skills.
- Ability to use initiative, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, presenting clear and structured arguments with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, able to win donors’ commitment to a common vision and clearly stated goals.
- Proven successful people management experience, and ability to work as part of a multicultural team.
- Strong skills in developing strategies, conceptualizing programs, and demonstrating impact on a large scale.
- Good knowledge and experience of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programs.
- Sound business case development and approvals skills.
- Good understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures Sufficient professional seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the program.
