About the Role
Sanivation has been
a leader in determining what the City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation approach
means in practice. Our work has helped define the approaches, methods, and
outputs for what is a CWIS plan. We have been working with industry leaders
from around the world as partners, clients, and funders. We have completed
CWIS analysis and plans in 7 different locations across Kenya and in 2
other countries. These projects have spanned across not only geographic areas
but stakeholders, situations, and scope of the work. Now this approach is
gaining more traction, and demand for quality next generation strategic plans
is growing rapidly.
Sanivation is
looking for a new CWISP expert to take over this division in our company and
lead the visionary work of creating strategic plans for next generation
sanitation. This role will report directly to our COO and be the technical lead
on all our CWISP work. Beyond just a technical expert, this role will give an
opportunity to grow skills in product, project management and business
development. This role will develop networks across funders, government, and
private sector partners to shape how next generation sanitation can change the
sanitation landscape.
We are looking for
someone who is passionate about shaping what City-Wide InclusiveSanitation is
and how we can grow this approach. We need a technical expert who has a record
to show their expertise but who is interested in continuing to build this product
and lead implementation projects.
Responsibilities
1. Technical
Lead on Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) Planning: proposals and
implementation
(50%)
o Advise on CWIS
project prospects and working with the BD team in structuring proposals
o Co-develop
project concepts and proposals with key funders
o Lead the
methodology and approach of CWIS Planning proposals in line with the strategic
goals of the company
o Ensure
implementation of all CWISP projects factoring in quality, time, financial, and
stakeholder satisfaction targets are achieved
o Ensure resourcing
on budget and staff inclusion and/or recruitment for proper implementation
o Lead as CWISP
technical expert for CWISP projects and provide technical backstopping on all
CWISP implementations
2. Capture and
Partner Management (25%)
o Develop a
pipeline of CWISP opportunities
o Responsible for
Capture management to secure CWISP projects
o Identify &
lead relationship management for CWISP partners and funders
o Lead content
creation marketing materials for the product and all CWISP work
o Participate and
present in conferences/ webinars/ workshops related to CWISP/ NSS planning
3. Product and
team management (25%)
o Lead the product
improvement roadmap
o Lead on market
analysis, competitor analysis, product fit and product commercialization for
CWIS planning
o Lead forecasting
and target creation for the replication and expansion of the CWIS planning
product
o Establish and
monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product
initiatives.
o Utilize data and
analytics to make informed decisions and continuously optimize product
performance
o Lead company
intel on industry trends and how that modifies product strategy
o Building a team
of CWIS technical experts and a roster of consultants
Qualifications:
• Masters’ degree
in WASH sectors/ urban development/ environmental studies/ finance/ other
relevant sectors
• 8+ years of
relevant work experience in WASH/ related field
• Experience
working with water and sanitation utilities
• Experience
developing costed investment and implementation plans
• Experience
leading projects on DFI/ funder programs
• Network and
credibility among key WASH funders
• Experience with
leading and/or building consulting arms for organizations a plus
• Specific
experience in sub-Saharan Africa context is an added advantage
Working Relationship:
• Report to COO
• Work closely at
the Business development and Operations team
• Coordinate and
lead a team of consultants, partners and internal hires to help deliver quality
projects
• Lead
relationships with CWIS funders such as WB, AfDB, BMGF, UNICEF, SHF, AfWa, AFD,
USAID, etc.
• Collaborate with
local government clients
Location:
The location is
flexible and the role will be hybrid. There will be travel 20%-40% of time for
project implementation & conferences. The CWIS Solutions Manager will be
required to be in Nairobi/Naivasha Kenya for relationship management 20% of the
time.
