The Accountant is a critical hire; the person who ensures that every financial transaction is correctly recorded, every payment is properly authorized, and the business's financial position is transparent and audit-ready at all times. This role owns the integrity of the Xero financial ledger, the 'Data Fortress', and acts as the internal financial control function for the business. The Accountant also owns the relationship with external auditors and KRA, ensuring statutory compliance filings are accurate, timely, and defensible. Given the business's legacy position and ongoing regularization with KRA, this dimension of the role carries particular importance. The Accountant additionally gives functional direction to the Mombasa-based Junior Accountant, who keeps the Mombasa branch books in Xero.
