The Northern
Rangelands Trust
(NRT) is an Indigenous non-profit community conservancy membership
organization. Its mission is to develop resilient community conservancies that
transform lives, secure peace, and conserve natural resources. NRT currently
supports 45 community conservancies across Kenya in 10 counties (Marsabit,
Laikipia, Isiolo, Meru, Baringo, Samburu, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu and West
Pokot counties) and Uganda.
As the People
(HR) Director, one is expected to play a critical role in shaping and nurturing
the human capital within the organization. The office holder will be
responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive talent acquisition,
management, development, exit, and retention strategies. Additionally, you will
oversee the implementation of performance management and drive employee
engagement initiatives. Your expertise in HR functions and talent management
will be pivotal in ensuring the success of our organization.
Key roles/responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a talent acquisition, management, development, retention, and exit strategy.
- Develop onboarding materials for NRT and CCY employees and develop a SOP handbook for all HR-related policies, procedures, and administrative processes.
- Design and implement a comprehensive training curriculum to enhance the skills of employees and HR personnel at CCYs.
- Oversee the implementation of performance management processes to drive organizational growth and individual employee development.
- Develop succession planning initiatives to identify and groom high-potential employees for future leadership roles within the organization.
- Assess and manage development of digitized HR Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to streamline HR processes and enhance efficiency.
- Promote and lead employee engagement initiatives to create a positive and motivated work environment.
- Promote an inclusive and positive work environment, focusing on diversity across all levels.
- Address employee concerns, conflicts and grievances and develop HR policies that comply with labour laws.
- Develop annual budgets for the department and provide any support required in the development of fundraising proposals and grant reports.
- Align closely with the Chief Operating Officer for institutional memory and continuity.
- Provide daily management, coaching and mentorship, and career development and training opportunities to all direct reporting staff.
