We are seeking a dynamic, proactive, organized, and dedicated Program Coordinator and M&E Officer to join our team and help us empower grassroots organizations in East Africa to increase their impact and become sustainable.
About Lightup Impact
Lightup Impact is a youth-led grassroots movement of 70+ early-stage grassroots organizations in gender and health in East Africa. We support young grassroots founders with the skills to lead. As we apply a bottom-up approach to development, we co-create and co-implement solutions together with our community of founders. We offer a collaborative, international work environment, professional growth opportunities, and the chance to make a difference through your work.
The position
As a Program Coordinator and M&E Officer at Lightup Impact, you’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating two main programs within our organization: capacity strengthening online and in-person trainings and networking events (public and private to our members). You will also be responsible for data collection and analysis based on pre-existing M&E frameworks.
You’ll collaborate directly with the program managers, our partners, and other stakeholders to plan and ensure the successful implementation and execution of these programs. You’ll also play a vital role in facilitating meaningful engagement with stakeholders.
Program implementation and coordination:
- Coordinate logistics and administrative tasks related to program implementation, including scheduling meetings, sending emails to training or event participants and partners, and coordinating online Zoom meetings.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination, and collaboration throughout the program lifecycle.
- Work closely with the program manager to ensure the project workplan is smoothly implemented.
Stakeholder engagement and partnerships:
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with program participants, partners, donors, trainers, and other stakeholders through regular communication, engagement, and feedback mechanisms.
Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting:
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data and performance indicators to assess progress, measure outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with the program manager to monitor program activities and progress against targets, ensuring timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with the communications team, providing content and performance data for quarterly or annual reports.
- Bachelor’s degree or certification/diploma in a relevant field such as International Development, Social Sciences, Community Development, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, Program Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 1-2 years of proven experience working in program coordination, project management, or related roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector or community development context.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build positive relationships.
- Available to travel for in-person training activities within Kenya.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and other relevant software applications.
- Experience in working with a remote team and with digital program/project management software (e.g., Asana) and the Zoom platform is an advantage
- Commitment to our organization’s mission, values, and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
Joining our organization as a Program Coordinator and M&E Officer offers a unique opportunity to drive positive change and make a meaningful impact in community development, networking, and capacity-strengthening initiatives. Be part of a passionate team dedicated to empowering communities, fostering collaboration, and creating lasting social change.
