Procurement & Logistics Manager

The Procurement & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end procurement, importation, logistics, and supply chain operations for a fast-paced, time-sensitive manufacturing business. The role provides strategic and operational oversight across sourcing, purchasing, inventory planning, warehousing, distribution, and supplier management to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time delivery.

The role ensures the timely sourcing, clearance, transportation, and availability of goods while optimizing cost, quality, efficiency, and service levels across the entire supply chain. It requires strong expertise in international sourcing, shipping, customs clearance, supplier negotiations, inventory planning, demand forecasting, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supply Chain Strategy, Planning & Optimization

  • Develop and implement an integrated supply chain, procurement, and logistics strategy aligned with the company’s growth and operational objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end supply chain planning, including demand forecasting, supply planning, and capacity planning to support manufacturing, sales, and project timelines.
  • Design and optimize supply chain networks covering sourcing, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
  • Identify alternative sourcing markets and suppliers to ensure business continuity and supply resilience.
  • Develop and execute procurement plans aligned with production schedules and inventory requirements.
  • Forecast procurement and import requirements to support production, sales, and project timelines.

2. International Sourcing & Import Management

  • Manage all international sourcing and supplier relationships.
  • Oversee import documentation, shipping schedules, and coordinate with clearing agents, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and regulators.
  • Ensure compliance with import, tax, and customs procedures and regulations.

3. Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate, appoint, and manage international and local suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and SLAs.
  • Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality, lead time and service levels.
  • Drive continuous supplier improvement and performance optimization.

4. Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the procurement, logistics, and supply chain budget.
  • Monitor freight, clearing, warehousing, transport, and inventory holding costs.
  • Drive cost-saving and efficiency initiatives across the supply chain without compromising quality or delivery timelines.

5. Inventory, Warehousing & Distribution Management

  • Optimize warehouse operations, storage, picking, and dispatch processes.
  • Ensure efficient distribution and on-time delivery to production sites and customers. 
  • Ensure accurate stock records and strong inventory controls, and minimize stock-outs, overstocking, slow-moving stock, and obsolescence.

6. Quality Assurance, Compliance, Risk & Controls

  • Ensure all imported and locally sourced goods meet company specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage supplier quality issues, claims, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure full compliance with procurement policies, import/export laws, customs
  • regulations, and statutory requirements, and supplier compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including shipping delays, supplier dependency, currency exposure, geopolitical risks, and regulatory changes.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls over procurement, logistics, and inventory processes.

7. Stakeholder Coordination & Business Support

  • Work closely with Finance, Sales, Production, Projects, and Operations teams to ensure the timely availability of materials and finished goods.
  • Provide regular updates on supply chain performance, shipment status, delivery timelines, and risk exposure.

8. Reporting & Performance Management

  • Prepare integrated supply chain, procurement, and logistics performance reports for senior management.
  • Track and report KPIs on cost efficiency, service levels, delivery timelines, supplier performance, inventory turns, and working capital.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, a Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Must have professional qualifications (CIPS, CPSM, CSCP, etc.) and membership in a recognized professional body.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, and logistics, with at least 4 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong experience in international sourcing, imports, clearing, and forwarding. Competencies & Attributes

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving capability.
