A. Project Background
As a federally owned enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.
Since 2009 EnDev has been promoting access to sustainable energy for households, social institutions and small businesses in Kenya. EnDev supports the Kenyan government’s ambitious goals of 100% access to electricity by 2030, stimulation of off-grid economic activities and universal access to clean cooking by 2028. Additionally, EnDev Kenya implements the associated project funded by DGIS and DANIDA, the Africa Biogas Component Kenya is being implemented by EnDev which supports a sustainable and growing market for biodigesters for climate and energy access targets.
EnDev Kenya seeks to recruit an Intern for project Administration, Monitoring and Verification to support performance of project administrative tasks, monitoring and evaluation activities and records management.
Responsibilities
A. Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Intern are to:
1. Perform administrative duties to ensure various implementation initiatives are successfully implemented
2. Support document collection and update of the project records management system
3. Contribute towards continuous improvement of MRV processes and systems
B. Tasks
1. Technical tasks
- Under the guidance of the Team Leader and in compliance with the EU General DataProtection Regulation (GDPR) and the Kenya Data Act of 2019, the intern will support the project with the tasks below:
Prepare necessary project activity documents for review and approval e.g. activity plans, budget estimates and any other relevant documents.
Support in review, dispatch and monitoring of data reporting tools for various sector actors contracted by the EnDev project e.g. Last Mile Entrepreneurs (LMEs) and informal enterprises awarded Result based financing contracts.
Perform tasks in aggregation of records and digitalisation of data from technology promotion activities performed by contracted sector actors into prescribed data collection and performance monitoring tools.
Support and contribute to the review and monitoring of digitalisation of data collection, monitoring and verification tools and processes.
Support overall records management at the project level, including but not limited to proper filing of records, verification reports and any other related documentations related to project implementation.
Support and contribute to documentation of impact stories to demonstrate the impact of the programme in Kenya.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisors.
C. Required qualifications, competences, and experience.
Qualifications
Recent (One Year or less) graduate with relevant bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Social Sciences
- Experience in any assignment involving data collection, data entry, records management(both field and desk based), data entry and basic analysis.
Knowledge of working with Microsoft office 365 applications.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Planning and organizing skills.
Ability to work well under supervision.
Demonstrate ability to work well in a team.
D. Timing and Duration of Assignment
The duration of this contract is 6 months.
E. Duty location
Nairobi with occasional visits to EnDev implementation sites.
