Human Resource Officer

Our client, a manufacturing firm based in Kisumu is hiring a Factory Human Resource Officer.

He/she will be responsible for managing and overseeing the human resources functions within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Their role involves ensuring the smooth operation of all HR-related tasks to support factory production and maintain a productive and compliant workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruitment and Onboarding:
    • Manage recruitment processes for workers, including advertising positions, interviewing candidates, and hiring staff.
    • Oversee the onboarding process, including orientation, documentation, and ensuring compliance with factory safety procedures.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Act as a point of contact, addressing concerns, and grievances, and resolving them to maintain a harmonious work environment.
    • Implement and promote employee engagement programs and initiatives.
    • Assist in resolving labor disputes and ensure a positive workplace culture.
  • Performance Management:
    • Support managers with employee evaluations, feedback, and performance appraisals.
  • Compliance and Health & Safety:
    • Ensure that factory HR policies and procedures comply with local labor laws and health and safety regulations.
    • Monitor employee attendance, timekeeping, and compliance with company policies on punctuality and dress codes.
    • Ensure that all employees follow health and safety protocols.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration:
    • Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
    • Oversee employee benefits programs, ensuring employees are enrolled in appropriate programs and assisting with any questions related to benefits.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal data, employment history, and disciplinary actions.
    • Prepare and submit HR-related reports to management regularly (e.g., turnover rates, training statistics, etc.).
  • Employee Welfare:
    • Ensure that the factory environment supports employee welfare and well-being through initiatives like workplace wellness programs and employee recognition schemes, as well as by addressing concerns that may affect employee morale.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP K qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and HR practices within a factory setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.

Work Conditions:

Typically works in a factory environment, which may require standing for long periods and walking around the factory floor.

May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on operational needs.
