JOB PURPOSE: This position emphasizes protection, collaboration and the delivery of basic paralegal
services in various community settings. The primary goal is to ensure the protection of
individuals within the community from arbitrary arrest and gender-based violence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To conduct weekly monitoring and reporting along their terms of reference to identify individual
or group-related challenges affecting refugees and asylum seekers.
• To carry out immediate interventions on cases and/or gathering the necessary information and
referring the matter to RCK.
• Submitting weekly and monthly monitoring reports.
• Conducting case interviews and obtaining biographical and demographical information on
refugees and asylum seekers as instructed by the Project Officer.
• Identifying vulnerable clients and referring the cases falling within RCK’s mandate.
• Accompanying vulnerable clients to different areas such as the police station or court where there
is need.
• Participating in ongoing projects in the other programmes, such as the advocacy capacity building
workshops.
• Mobilizing for community sensitization forums and other forums as directed.
Participating in RCK’s awareness forums and disseminating information to other refugees, asylum
seekers and hosts in the community.
• Carrying out any other duty as may be advised from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
1) A high school certificate. Knowledge of English and Kiswahili is an added advantage.
2) Must be a registered refugee/asylum seeker or Kenyan citizen residing within either of the areas
specified above.
3) Must have community leadership and mobilization skills.
4) Must have a basic understanding of the Kenyan legal system.
5) Possess good report writing skills.
6) Experience with NGO or related environment is an added advantage.

• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication (written, spoken and presentational) skills.
Proficiency in English or Kiswahili.
• Teamwork: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds with respect for diversity and to exercise diplomacy, flexibility and assertiveness.
