Our client, a new and ambitious entrant into the Kenyan food manufacturing industry, is seeking to recruit an experienced and innovative Food Technologist / Product Development Manager to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a food science professional with a passion for product innovation, quality excellence, and manufacturing efficiency. The successful candidate will lead the development and production of tomato sauces, ketchups, and related condiment products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and optimize recipes for tomato sauces, ketchups, and other condiment products.
- Manage and oversee production processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure full compliance with KEBS, HACCP, ISO, and all other applicable food safety and quality standards.
- Safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of proprietary product formulations and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct batch testing, quality assurance checks, and sensory evaluations to maintain product excellence.
- Monitor raw materials, production parameters, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Lead, coach, and supervise production staff to achieve operational and quality objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in product quality, production efficiency, and process optimization.
- Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' hands-on experience in food manufacturing, with proven experience in sauce, ketchup, or condiment formulation and production.
- Previous experience as a Food Technologist, Assistant Food Technologist, Production Supervisor, or in a similar manufacturing role is essential.
- Strong knowledge of food chemistry, preservation techniques, product formulation, and quality assurance.
- Thorough understanding of Kenyan food regulatory requirements, including KEBS standards, HACCP principles, and ISO quality management systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential product formulations.
- Excellent planning, communication, and team management abilities.
