Marketing Consultant (Nairobi, Kenya)

Role Profile:

Solar Panda has only done limited marketing in the past, but we want to ramp this up with initiatives like local radio, better signage, roadshows and digital marketing. As Marketing Consultant, you will advise which initiatives we should pursue and will lead the development and execution of them. You’ll be responsible for both long-term planning and day-to-day execution of these initiatives, ensuring consistency across all channels. If you’re a creative, data-driven marketer who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves the challenge of brand-building, this is the opportunity for you.

This will be a contract position with an opportunity to become full-time based on the performance of the campaign and the individual’s performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise senior management on which marketing strategies Solar Panda should pursue to achieve its objectives.
  • Build a process to quantify the impact and return from this marketing spend.  Identify which metrics Solar Panda should measure. This will be critical to justify ongoing investment.
  • Design a marketing program that integrates multiple initiatives and improves demand and brand equity (if that is the strategy you advise).
  • Provide insights from market trends and competitor activities.
  • Oversee the creation and approval of all marketing materials/communication, including brochures, banners, and digital content, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Approve and manage digital content calendars and digital campaigns across all platforms.

What We’re Looking For:

Operations & Logistics Manager (Dakar, Senegal)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Operations and Logistics Manager to join our new team in Dakar. In this role, you are responsible for our product supply chain, from manufacturer to consumer, including importation, warehouse management, dispatch to our retail shops, and reverse logistics of product returns. In addition, the position encompasses responsibility for operations of our many retail shops, including full stock control, as well as managing service providers and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of our frequent importation activity, including customs clearance and monitoring trade regulations and changes to tax and duty exemptions.
  • Warehouse management, including stock control, optimization of inventory levels, and orderly and efficient loading and unloading of shipments.
  • Management of dispatch and distribution of stock of retail shops across the country, including detailed analysis to determine optimal routing.
  • Supply chain inventory planning through coordination with sales team and suppliers.
  • Last mile distribution management, ensuring timely delivery and installation of products, as well as reverse logistics.
  • Standardization of processes across all our retail shops and management of customer service and support in each shop.
  • Oversee new retail shop openings and manage their ongoing maintenance.
  • Operational risk management, including identification of key operational risks and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Manage Service Level Agreements with service providers and contractors to ensure compliance with business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of proven track record in project management and logistics.
  • A bachelor’s degree in project management. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Highly analytical with a high level of competency in Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Proven experience in transportation routing and optimization.
  • Extensive experience in logistics, procurement, warehouse operation, retail shop management, inventory control and fleet management.

We are seeking a customer-oriented and experienced Customer Care Manager to join our new team in Dakar. In this role, you will be responsible for the country After Sales Operations including Call Center and Credit Collection.

Finance Manager (Dakar, Senegal)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to support financial operations and oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for Solar Panda Senegal while ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and company policies. They will play a crucial role in supporting business growth, maintaining financial health, and collaborating with other Finance Team members across the Solar Panda Group of companies. Reporting to the CFO in Canada with a dotted line to the Managing Director of Senegal, the ideal candidate will have a strong sense of ownership and accountability with extensive finance experience in partnering with the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Ensure timely preparation and review of financial reports and management accounts, proactively, communicating issues arising from monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Engage continuously with the Corporate Controller to ensure an in-depth understanding of internal control requirements and external reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including tax laws, and lender / shareholder obligations. Support internal audit activities as part of the corporate risk management process.
  • Lead local annual audits, and support lender and investor requests.

Staff Supervision & Capacity Building:

  • Supervise finance staff and support continuous capacity-building initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and training to strengthen financial management capabilities within the team.

Cash Flow & Payment Oversight:

  • Oversee cash flow management to support routine and annual financial commitments.
  • Review payments to ensure proper documentation and adherence to internal controls.
  • Review journal entries to confirm accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.

Financial Planning & Budgeting:

  • Support the financial planning and budgeting process, including both proposal and institutional budgets.
  • Take the lead in looking for opportunities for efficiency and building up lean value-added process in a start-up environment.

Accounts Payable:

  • Oversee the end-to-end A/P process including invoice approvals, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and ensure timely payment cycles.
  • Review and process employee expense claims in line with company policies and build out expense tracking procedures.

Payroll:

  • Ensure accurate and timely salary disbursements, including bonuses, deductions, and statutory contributions.
  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliations between HR records, payroll reports, and the general ledger to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of employee compensation data.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting with strong experience in partnering with the management team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or ACCA preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws and compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting tools. Experience in implementing new accounting information systems.
