Relationship Officer - Agribusiness

As part of our expansion strategy, we are seeking a competent and qualified candidate to fill the following position:

RELATIONSHIP OFFICER - AGRIBUSINESS

Job Purpose

The Incumbent will report to the Relationship Manager - Agribusiness and will be responsible for developing new business opportunities by proactively marketing Agribusiness opportunities from current & prospective clients as well as acting as the main Relationship officer for all Agri Business customers. The main goal of the position is to continuously grow the Agribusiness Portfolio in the branch.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive and Implement solutions for the Agribusiness branch portfolio based on the Bank’s strategy.
  • Increase bank deposits for the Agribusiness portfolio and the bank.
  • Drive the Agribusiness portfolio while fostering & growing relationships within the Agribusiness customer base.
  • Drive to increase interest and non-interest income from Agribusiness banking.
  • Agribusiness Customer based focus on increase of customer numbers, product and tariff development, channels, and Innovation.
  • Conducting market intelligence and surveys in respect to competitor products and market trends.
  • Appraisal and evaluation of all new Agribusiness credit facilities generated from Branch staff and recommendation to credit department for approval.
  • Ensure participation in relevant forums with key partners/customers.
  • Proactively engage customers to establish service levels and initiate constant improvement.
  • Ensure that sub-ordinates maintain a good rapport with all customers in a professional manner.
  • Keep customers constantly informed on the progress of their applications and drive this culture throughout the team.
  • Maintain a high quality-lending book, through prudent and effective management thereof.
  • Ensure that allocated work is processed within the set TAT, therefore meeting monthly targets.
  • Cross – selling of all bank services and marketing for new business.
  • Collection of market intelligence information, local competition, products, and levels of service.
  • Maintain a good quality loan book by ensuring arrears on normal and watch category accounts are collected promptly.
  • Develop rapport with potential clients and be able to close sales and contracts in lending and bank business acquisition.
  • To perform any other duty as assigned in line with the Organizational goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree preferably in a business-related field.
  • AKIB banking certificates will be an added advantage.
  • 3 years’ experience in banking, 2 of which should be in Business development and customer relationship management.
  • Solid analytical skills and experience in credit appraisal, handling and resolving customer requests and queries.
  • Good understanding of prudential guidelines and KYC.
  • Have strong communication and team building skills with ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Resilient, Confident, and self-motivated.
