Position Overview:

The Human Resource Officer at Amaica is both a strategic leader and a hands-on facilitator, responsible for shaping a dynamic and effective human capital framework. This role requires exceptional resilience, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset. The HRO must thrive under pressure, excel in a fast-paced environment, and maintain unwavering focus amidst competing priorities. Success demands a strong command of English, sophisticated leadership skills, and the proven ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism and intelligence. While collaborating closely with multiple departments, the HRO must remain vigilant to their primary responsibilities and avoid over-involvement in finance or operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Drive recruitment efforts to attract skilled, culturally aligned candidates.
  • Implement rigorous screening, interviewing, and selection processes.
  • Oversee a comprehensive onboarding experience that fosters loyalty and long-term engagement.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as a critical support resource for employees, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts impartially and confidentially.
  • Implement strategies to boost morale, increase retention, and create an inclusive environment that values individual contributions.
  • Champion an open-door policy, ensuring transparent communication and trust across all levels.

Performance Management & Development

  • Design and administer performance appraisal systems that promote accountability, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate targeted training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Encourage continuous improvement, pushing team members to prove their capabilities and excel in their roles.

Policy Implementation & Compliance

  • Develop and update HR policies that align with legal requirements, industry standards, and internal values.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and secure employee records, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality.

Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Advise leadership on competitive compensation packages and benefit offerings.
  • Coordinate with payroll and administration teams to ensure accurate and timely remuneration.
  • Stay informed about market trends, adjusting compensation strategies to attract and retain top talent.

Organizational Development & Strategic Planning

  • Participate in forecasting staffing needs and shaping organizational structures to meet evolving business demands.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine HR strategies, optimize productivity, and support long-term business goals.
  • Engage in succession planning, developing leaders who can carry Amaica’s vision into the future.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field; professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CIPD, SHRM-CP) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of robust HR experience, ideally within the hospitality or service industry, demonstrating comfort in a high-intensity environment.
  • Thorough understanding of local labor laws, HR best practices, and ethical standards.
