The Institute for Human Development (IHD) is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge with direct relevance for policies, programs, and practices that enhance life experiences at all stages of human development.
In its foundational years, the Institute seeks particularly to become a visible instrumental force, locally as well as globally, for advancing knowledge about the earliest years of children’s development and for harnessing such knowledge for the purpose of shaping policies and interventions that ensure a strong start in life for all children wherever they may live.
The purpose of this role is to support with data collection processes for the IDRC project titled “Care for All: Catalyzing Care Innovations in Marginalized and Vulnerable Communities in Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL)”
Responsibilities
- Familiarize with data collection tools, consenting processes, and protocols.
- Assist in translation of study tools from English/Swahili to local language.
- Support with community engagement processes.
- Introduce participants to the study and conduct the consent process.
- Conduct data collection activities as per the outlined protocols.
- Ensure proper storage of study documents/ samples.
- Documentation of all field implementation and community engagement process including keeping accurate records and raw data.
- Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and submit timely reports on data collection activities.
Requirements
- A Degree/Diploma in Social Science, Education, Economic or any other related field.
- Proficiency in use of smart phone/tablet /computer is required.
- Familiarity with research ethics.
- Ability to work within tight schedules under minimal supervision.
- Should be fluent in English/Swahili and the community local languages.
- Excellent demonstrated teamwork and communication skills.
